Classroom Training - NPL dimensional measurement user - Level 1 - Hexagon Technical Centre - 3 Days
This course explores dimensional measurement and provides an intermediate technical foundation applicable to all
industrial sectors. Use this course as a stand-alone qualification or as a building block for further NPL dimensional
measurement training levels 2 and 3.
Certificate - EAL Level 2 Award in Metrology.
Dimensional Measurement 500/9924/3
Aims and objectives
To provide:
• A good understanding of the relevance of dimensional measurement
• The underpinning knowledge and expertise for anyone who uses dimensional measurement tools
• A good understanding of dimensional and geometrical tolerances
Enabling:
• The understanding of the purpose of datum systems in dimensional measurement
• The complete interpretation of tolerance frames
• Covering datum references
• Covering tolerance zone shapes
• Covering different geometrical characteristics of form, location, orientation, and run out
• The creation of a measurement strategy, including measurement uncertainty, calibration, and traceability
• The selection, preparation, and use of a range of measuring instruments
Course summary/agenda:
In this training course, participants will be introduced to dimensional metrology and the importance of good measurement practice and the right measurement behaviours. This is a EAL approved qualification.
Intended audience:
• Professionals and management in measurement or related roles
• Metrology managers
• Quality managers
• Quality engineers
• Calibration engineers
• Manufacturing engineers
• Co-ordinate measurement users and programmers
